Cagrilintide: Long-Acting Amylin Analog Research Overview
Cagrilintide is a long-acting acylated amylin analog investigated in published randomized trials, alone and alongside semaglutide. It is not an approved medicine. Research-grade material is supplied for laboratory work only.

What cagrilintide is
Cagrilintide is a synthetic analog of amylin, a peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells. It carries a fatty-acid side chain that promotes albumin binding and extends its half-life, and it is described in the literature as a non-selective agonist at amylin and calcitonin receptors.
Amylin signaling is studied for its role in satiety and gastric emptying, which is why cagrilintide is examined in metabolic research models.
Published clinical research
A 2021 dose-finding phase 2 trial published in The Lancet compared once-weekly cagrilintide against placebo and against liraglutide in adults with overweight or obesity, reporting dose-dependent reductions in body weight over 26 weeks.
A separate 2021 phase 1b trial in The Lancet examined cagrilintide administered together with semaglutide 2.4 mg, assessing safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. This combination is the basis of later investigational programs.
These are trial results in specific populations under clinical supervision. They do not establish safety or suitability for any use outside those protocols.
Laboratory handling considerations
Keep lyophilized vials sealed, cold and protected from light. Equilibrate to room temperature before opening, reconstitute with an appropriate solvent, aliquot to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and record the lot number with your data. The free peptide calculator can help with concentration math.
Research-use-only scope
This monograph summarizes published scientific literature for educational and reference purposes only. It is not medical, veterinary, clinical, or dosing guidance, and nothing here should be read as a claim that this compound is safe, effective, or approved for use in humans or animals.
Material supplied by North Summit Labs is intended strictly for in-vitro laboratory research by qualified professionals. It is not a drug, supplement, food, cosmetic, or medical device, and it is not for human or animal consumption. Investigators are responsible for complying with their own institutional oversight, biosafety, and legal requirements.
Frequently asked questions
What is cagrilintide?
A long-acting, acylated analog of the hormone amylin that acts at amylin and calcitonin receptors. It is investigational and not an approved medicine.
How is cagrilintide related to semaglutide research?
Published trials have studied cagrilintide alone and co-administered with the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide. The two act on different receptor systems.
How is cagrilintide research material supplied?
As lyophilized powder in sealed, lot-labeled 5mg and 10mg vials, for in-vitro laboratory research only.
